Band Representative Program

The Band Representative Program provides culturally grounded support to HIFN families, offering advocacy, guidance, and early prevention services while keeping children connected to culture, community, and Anishinaabe teachings.

About the Program

The Band Representative Program (or First Nation Representative Services (FNRS)) is HIFN’s foundation for supporting children, youth, and families involved with or at risk of involvement in the child and family services system. It ensures HIFN maintains its rights under federal and provincial child and family services laws, and that decisions respect Anishinaabe teachings, culture, and community values. The program plays a critical role in keeping families informed, involved, and connected, strengthening family unity and supporting culturally grounded, community-led care.
